When doing a Google blog search based on an article I read in today's Wall Street Journal, I encountered something new called Live Blood Video Microscopy. That is an area of great interest, since I'd like to see a video showing patients exactly how autoimmune destruction of the Islets of Langerhans occurs left them with an incurable disease. In an ideal world, it would be a ride like Epcot's Body Wars (found in the Wonders of Life pavilion), but I think its unlikely that a hospital would accommodate such an attraction, so a video is the next best thing.
My idea would be along the lines of the 2001 movie "Osmosis Jones". Truthfully, however, my inspiration was actually the 1987 Steven Spielberg movie "Innerspace" starring Dennis Quaid, which was apparently based heavily on the 1966 Raquel Welch premier "Fantastic Voyage". I will be conducting some web-based research to support this initiative in the future.
